The editor

Everything on one screen. Nothing in your way.

Scene, game view, hierarchy, inspector, assets and an AI assistant, docked the way you like them. Press Play and your game runs in place; press it again and the scene is exactly how you left it.

  • Undo for everything, including modeling, painting and sculpting.
  • Profiler with a frame graph of scripts, physics, animation and rendering.
  • Hover a model to see its parts, click one to select it, double-click for the whole model.
  • Crash reports saved on your PC, ready to copy and send.

Modeling studio

Model it, armour it, rig it. Without leaving.

Press Tab on any mesh to model: extrude, inset, bevel, loop cut, knife, booleans, sculpting, UV unwrapping and painting. Characters start as a skeleton and finish as an armoured, animated hero, all in the same editor.

  • Skin Body grows a smooth, all-quad body from a skeleton of points. Drag a joint and the body follows.
  • Extract Shell lifts armour plates, visors and trim off any surface, with clean edges and thickness, and they move with the rig.
  • One-click rig and starter animations: the skeleton becomes bones, and Idle, Walk, Run and Cheer are written for you.
  • Works with your files: FBX, glTF, OBJ and .blend in; glTF and FBX out with skeleton and animation.

Characters

Drop in a model. It walks.

Models without a skeleton get one on import, fingers and four-legged animals included. Mixamo clips play on any humanoid. Scrub any animation frame by frame from the Inspector, then wire states together in the Animator graph.

  • Animator graph with blend trees, layers and transitions.
  • IK that plants feet on slopes and turns heads to targets.
  • Timeline for cutscenes: cameras, animation, sound and events.

Scripting

Write C#. See it run before you look up.

Scripts in your project compile as you save them and reload into the running scene. The API will feel familiar if you have used Unity: MonoBehaviour, Update, transform, GetComponent, coroutines.

  • Coming from Unity? Import whole projects, scenes and prefabs.
  • Port Unity scripts one by one or all at once with the AI Assistant; ported scripts keep the values your scenes set.

Ship it

One project. Every place your players are.

Every build is a File menu item. Nothing to configure first.

Windows

A folder with an .exe

Your game packed and protected. Native builds compile scripts to machine code.

Web

A website

WebAssembly and WebGL2. Upload the folder to itch.io or any host and it plays in the browser.

macOS

A Mac app

Apple Silicon and Intel, zipped and ready to send.

Linux

A game server

Headless dedicated servers for multiplayer games, ready to upload.

Builds check their own files for tampering, and can ask a licence server of yours before they start.

AI Assistant

Ask for a level. Watch it get built.

Claude Code or Codex plug straight into the editor. They see your scene, place and model objects, write scripts, light the scene and take screenshots to check their own work.

Uses your own Claude Code or Codex sign-in. Mean Engine never asks for or stores API keys.
